The City of Treasure Island will be celebrating its 50th anniversary of incorporation on May 3, 2005. The City has planned a month long celebration with events planned for the community each weekend.

One of the events planned is the City’s annual SUN, SAND & SYMPHONY concert on the beach to be held on Friday, May 27 & Saturday, May 28, 2005 at the Treasure Island Beach Access, Gulf Boulevard at 104th Avenue.

Because 2005 is such a special year for Treasure Island, we’ve decided that our final TI Five-O event in May should be double the fun of our annual Memorial Day weekend symphony on the beach. So we’ve invited the Florida Orchestra to play two nights of pops, classical and show tunes, right here on our wide Gulf of Mexico beach. Bring your beach blanket or lawn chairs and be prepared for a Golden Anniversary musical experience like no other. Our neighborhood civic associations from Paradise, Palms, Capri, Sunset and Sunshine, and the Treasure Island Business Association have taken care of the food and drink for you, stationing concessions stands throughout the concert area. Reserved tables are available, too. Each table for six complete with a hearty party basket of fresh fruits, imported cheeses, crisp crackers, tasty snacks, wines and champagnes that are sure to elicit a “bravissimo!”

The Florida Orchestra plays both nights at 8:00pm. Musical talents Jon Secada and Joey Daniels of Bill Edwards record label Big3 Records will perform with the Florida Orchestra on Saturday evening. Pre-show warm-up begins at 6:00pm on Saturday. A gigantic TI Five-O Golden Anniversary fireworks blowout wraps up Sun, Sand & Symphony 2005 on both nights. The United States Coast Guard will be doing a “fly over” on Saturday evening.
