July 8th, 2011 – Treasure Island, FL.

A part of Gotham Live Entertainment, David Alan Grier entertained the crowd at The Club at Treasure Island on Friday, July 8th,2011. David first turned heads as a Shakespearean actor from the Yale School of Drama, earning a 1981 Tony Award for his portrayal of Jackie Robinson in The First. But Grier couldn’t resist making people laugh, stealing his scene in the 80s cult classic Amazon Women on the Moon (as Don “No Soul” Simmons) before landing a recurring role on The Cosby Show spinoff A Different World. Grier next shocked censors and split sides during his five-year run on In Living Color – the trailblazing sketch comedy show that also launched the careers of Jamie Foxx, Jim Carey, Jennifer Lopez and Damon Wayans – costarring in some of In Living Color’s most popular sketches: “Men on Film” reviewer Antoine Merriweather; “Great Moments in Black History”; “Calhoun Tubbs”; Al MacAfee the shop teacher; and the little kid in “Homey the Clown.”
